Working together to fulfill a community vision for the Stocklmeir property.
We are seeking to balance sometimes competing interests and values with consensus and mutual respect.
Some of the desired outcomes are:
- Creek Restoration
- Protect and enhance vital riparian and upland habitat
- Natural Flood protection
- Legacy Orchard teaching land stewardship
- Multi-use trail
- Education, Interpretation & Outreach
Background
The City of Cupertino Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council are considering the final fate of the area known as the Stocklmeir Property and Orchard. This land was studied in the context of the Stevens Creek Corridor project and the work currently planned for this area is part of phase II of the overall project.
The current plan calls for realigning Stevens Creek within this property adding an eight foot wide multi-use trail through the existing orchard. Some residents have raised concerns about these plans and this task force was established to work on these issues with Park and Recreation staff.
